Boost your speeds for free with TalkTalk's fabulous fibre broadband deals

When you sign up for a new broadband deal, ISPs are constantly throwing in a freebie to rope you in. A gift card here, some money off there but TalkTalk's latest offer is especially intriguing.

Cutting the costs of its fastest broadband package, up until September 26 you can land TalkTalk's Faster Fibre broadband deal for just £23.50. For reference, that is the same price as TalkTalk's regular fibre package, essentially garnering you a free speed upgrade.

Considering this faster package normally costs £26 a month, you end up saving £45 over the length of your contract. That leaves you with average speeds of 67Mb (very fast in case you were wondering) for no added cost.

You can see this money saving offer down below in full. Or, if you miss the deadline or would prefer something a little different, consult our guide to the best broadband deals.

TalkTalk's great value fibre broadband deal:

What other broadband deals are there?

As we mentioned above, Vodafone is TalkTalk's strongest competition here. Offering average speeds of 63Mb for £23 a month, Vodafone is the tiniest bit cheaper each month, 50p to be exact. But TalkTalk has the faster service - handy if you're all about the downloads or seamless streaming.

Or, if you like your broadband deal accompanied by some vouchers, BT could be the way to go. Offering an £100 BT reward card with its Superfast Fibre package for £31.99, BT is also a strong contender.

Wales vs Ireland live stream: how to watch rugby international match online from anywhere

Ireland's World Cup preparations took a massive knock last weekend with a demoralising 57-15 record defeat at the hands of England in Twickenham.

Joe Schmidt must now pick his team off the floor and ready them to face world number one ranked Wales on their home turf. No easy feat as the scars will surely remain from Wales' 25-7 rout of Ireland in this year's Six Nations, a victory which sealed the Grand Slam for Warren Gatland's men.

Unsurprisingly Ireland look set to make wholesale changes to their line up following the humbling at Twickenham, with former Sale Sharks captain Will Addison set to come in at full-back. Niall Scannell has been drafted in at hooker, while Tadhg Beirne will play in the back row.

Wales also look set to ring the changes from their recent 13-6 win over England.

With Alun Wyn Jones set to be rested, Josh Navidi looks set to be handed the captain's armband, while there are Test debuts in store for prop Rhys Carré and wing Owen Lane.

It's the penultimate warm-up game for both teams ahead of the World Cup, and with both coaches set to name their final 31-man squad after the weekend's action, today's match provides a final chance to shine for those on the fringes.

It's also a game you can watch live and in full, no matter where in the world you are, by following our Wales vs Ireland live stream guide below.

How to live stream Wales vs Ireland in the UK for free

How to live stream wales vs Ireland when you're not in your country

If you're outside your country of residence - whether that be the UK or anywhere else (see your other options below) - and try to start streaming the rugby via your native broadcaster, you'll soon discover that you can't as it is location restricted. Fear not, the action is still within your reach. All you need to do is download and install a VPN to effectively trick your computer into thinking that it's back home. That way you can enjoy your home coverage (as long as you do so in compliance with the broadcaster's Ts&Cs) without delving into the dangers of an illegal stream.

Windows 10 May 2019 Update gets fixes for some long-standing bugs

Windows 10 May 2019 Update gets fixes for some long-standing bugs

Windows 10 May 2019 Update has been having a pretty smooth – and speedy – rollout thus far, with only relatively minor niggles, although there have been some more persistent issues remaining unsolved. But the good news is Microsoft has finally cured some of these with a new cumulative update.

The main thorny problems which have been hanging around include an error that has been preventing Windows Sandbox from running in certain cases (Microsoft’s solution that lets Windows 10 Pro users run suspicious apps in a sandbox away from the rest of the system). This has been fixed with cumulative update KB4512941.

And another sigh of relief can be breathed by those who were affected by compatibility issues caused by certain Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers and the May 2019 Update. This issue appeared over a month ago now, but Microsoft says it’s resolved with KB4512941 (although the safeguarding block won’t be removed until early September – so presumably next week).

The cumulative update also deals with an issue whereby a black screen is displayed when using Remote Desktop to connect to a machine running Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Mixed Reality improvements

Microsoft further promises that the latest cumulative update improves the “user experience and app compatibility so that more Win32 apps will work with Windows Mixed Reality”, which is good news for those who have invested in one of those headsets.

There are a raft of other fixes which Microsoft has detailed in a long list here, but they also include resolving an issue preventing certain games from using Spatial Audio capabilities, and a problem where no cursor appears when selecting text input on a touchscreen.

As we mentioned at the outset, the May 2019 Update rollout appears to have accelerated to a very speedy pace, with the upgrade now on 33% of Windows 10 machines according to one set of stats – that figure having tripled since the previous month, showing Microsoft has definitely opened up the floodgates.

Most of the folks upgrading are doing so from the April 2018 Update, with prodding from Microsoft because the end-of-service date for that particular update isn’t that far off now (November 12).

If your Apple Watch display is cracking, Apple might replace the screen for free

If your Apple Watch display is cracking, Apple might replace the screen for free

Apple says it has identified a problem that "under very rare circumstances" can lead to cracking around the edge of the screen on aluminum Series 2 and Series 3 versions of the Apple Watch – and if you're affected, you can have a free replacement.

"Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace the screen on eligible Apple Watch units that exhibit this type of crack, free of charge," Apple says on the official support page for the issue.

What we don't know is what's causing this cracking, but it's possible that some sort of manufacturing defect is to blame. That the issue only happens under "very rare circumstances" is encouraging for Series 2 and Series 3 owners.

"The crack may begin on one side and then may continue around the screen as shown in the images below," Apple says.

Apple Watch repair

If you have noticed this sort of cracking on the display of your Apple Watch, first head to the support page on Apple's website and check that your model matches one of the case size, color, and date sold combinations listed.

You can then take it into an Apple Store or an approved repair shop, or post it off to Apple, to get the screen replaced free of charge. According to Apple you'll be without your wearable for about five business days.

These official repair programs are now reasonably common for Apple, though usually only a few devices are affected. The Apple Watch cracking certainly doesn't seem to be on the scale of the MacBook Pro keyboard breaking.

In the meantime we're waiting for the Apple Watch Series 5 to make an appearance: we're expecting it to be unveiled on September 10, alongside some new iPhones, with some new casing options in tow.

Horn vs Zerafa live stream: how to watch tonight's boxing from anywhere

Horn vs Zerafa live stream: how to watch tonight's boxing from anywhere
Horn vs Zerafa live stream: how to watch tonight's boxing from anywhere

Its a big night for Australian fight fans as compatriots Jeff Horn and Michael Zerafa go to toe-to-toe in Victoria. Former WBO welterweight title holder Horn will be putting his WBA Oceania Middleweight belt on the line for tonight's fight, and will be facing a fellow Aussie that's far from the journeyman usually placed in front of a fighter with an eye on a world title fight.

You can watch all of the action from the comfort of your own sofa from anywhere in the world with our Horn vs Zerafa live stream guide below.

Horn, a domestic boxing hero, is probably best know worldwide for his controversial points win over Manny Pacquiao back in 2017 which saw him unseat the then WBO welterweight champ. Having lost his title to Terence Crawford a year later, Horn has since moved to middleweight, and will have his eye on a late December title fight with WBA middleweight champion Ryoto Murata in Japan that has been agreed in principle.

Zerafa, an Olympic gold medal winner at London 2012, has a strong pedigree, having only lost to top draw opposition (e.g. Peter Quillin, Kell Brook, Arif Magomedov) and will be hoping for complacency from his opponent.

To ensure you can see the whole thing in real time so you don't miss any of the action, we've put together this guide to help you watch a Horn vs Zerafa live stream. As with most boxing, it's not always available in every country so you may find a VPN is the best way to stream the fight, which you'll find out all about below.

How to watch Horn vs Zerafa in Australia

How to live stream Horn vs Zerafa from outside your country

But if you're abroad this weekend then you'll need another way to watch and avoid possible geo-blocking. That's where using a VPN comes in, as it's a legitimate way to watch the coverage without having to resort to some dodgy illegal stream you found on Reddit that may leave your laptop or mobile unsafe.

How would you like a side of MMA with your breakfast? UFC returns with Fight Night 157 in the early hours of Saturday morning beaming all the way from China.

The event will be held in Shenzen for the very first time as UFC continues its quest for global ultimate fighting dominance. That means this one kicks off earlier for MMA fans in the US with the main card starting at 6am ET, 3am PT on ESPN+. We’ll explain how much it costs and how it works below so that you're completely clued up on how to live stream UFC 157.

There are five matches on the main Fight Night 157 card (following six in the prelims) with plenty of local interest across the men's and women's divisions. China meets Brazil as welterweights Li Jingliang and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos go head-to-head in the Octagon, while Jamahal 'Sweet Dreams' Hill represents American interests with a light-heavyweight match-up against Da Un Jung.

But undeniably the main attraction is the match in the main event spot - a Women's Strawweight Championship bout where the awesome Jessica Andrade puts her belt on the line against the Chinese Weili Zhang. If you know anything about Andrade then you know just how dangerous she can be, and she is looking like a mighty champion after winning the belt from Rose Namajunas back in May. But Zhang is currently on a 19 fight win streak and shouldn't be underestimated as a challenger.

UFC Fight Night China is set to be a real stunner and you can watch it in its entirety. All the fights can be watched in the US exclusively online via the ESPN+ subscription service. So keep reading to see your viewing options to get a UFC live stream, whether or not you're in the US this weekend.

How to live stream UFC online in the US

Live stream UFC from outside your country

Worry not if you're a huge UFC fan but aren't in the US to watch that ESPN+ coverage this weekend. If you've got your subscription sorted but then find the coverage is geo-blocked, you can try using a VPN to change your IP address to a US server and watch as if you were back at home.

The best Samsung Galaxy Note 8 deals in September 2019

In theory, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 deals should now be old news - right? Well we would disagree, the phone might have now been replaced by a few newer Samsung models but it still stands as one of their best releases yet, now at a super affordable price.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy S10 have come out since, full of high-end specs but, they both carry massive price tags. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 deals are definitely still well worth a look. And it's still getting cheaper!

The Note 8 is not by any means a budget device, however. It's a absolutely massive  smartphone, not just in size but also in raw power. It's got the screen size and specification smarts to be a competitor to the highly praised iPhone X or iPhone's new massive iPhone XS Max and neither of those come cheap. But there are now some excellent Samsung Galaxy Note 8 deals floating around. Check out our comparison chart and handpicked favourite Galaxy Note 8 deals below.

Now we know some of you may have fiery memories of the Galaxy Note 7 in your head when looking at this device but leave those worries behind. Both the Note 8 and 9 have massively improved their batteries and you won't be facing overheating problems anymore. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 deals truly are miles ahead of the 7 in every way.

Should I get the Galaxy Note 8 SIM free?

Are you determined to get the very best price? Always looking to see how you can trim a few pounds off your new favourite gadget? As you probably know, you can now pick up cheap SIM only deals for as little as £4 a month, which could make it worth buying a SIM and handset separately.

The Galaxy Note 8's RRP has dropped massively recently to £649. That is much cheaper than it used to be but you will still be putting up a big chunk of money upfront. Even if you get the cheapest SIM card (usually around £4 a month for 500MB data), that would still cost near to £800 over the two years. You're probably better cranking up the upfront cost in our price comparison chart above, imposing a low maximum for monthlies and finding a cheaper deal in the long run.

To get the best price on your new SIM free Galaxy, you can head to our cheapest unlocked Note 8 deals page.

Wondering what all the fuss is about? Well the fervour for the Note 8 is probably doubled due to the fact that the Note 7 was pulled from shelves soon after release. But it doesn't take more than one look at the Note 8 to see that it justifies the hype.

The huge 6.3-inch ‘Infinity Display,’ is gorgeous to look at, the 6GB RAM innards go like a train and there are two best-in-class rear cameras. It's expensive, but we think the Note 8 is worth it.

The best iPhone 8 Plus deals and UK contracts in September 2019

Apple's newer flagships are, well very expensive. So for those wanting to land a phablet sized iPhone at a lower price, iPhone 8 Plus deals could be the ideal way to go.

If you want one of the newest large screened Apple smartphones, but the price of the iPhone XS make you feel dizzy, then the 8 Plus will be the one for you. Especially with the new iPhone 11 soon to come out we can see this dropping even further in price.

So how are iPhone 8 Plus prices looking. On average, if you shop wisely (using our price comparison chart below) you'll save yourself around £300 if you go for this handset over the iPhone X. We've seen monthly tariffs as low as the £25 region if you're prepared to stick a wedge down upfront.

Still feeling a bit overwhelmed by these prices? Don't forget that iPhone 8 deals are also available if you'd prefer the smaller smartphone, along with the smaller prices. And you can save £10 on the upfront cost of any iPhone 8 Plus deal at Mobiles.co.uk by using the voucher code 10OFF at the checkout.

The 5 best iPhone 8 Plus deals you can get in the UK right now:

iPhone 8 Plus price: how much does it cost?

A mighty £699. That's how much the 64GB iPhone 8 Plus will cost you in the UK according to the RRP. That might seem like a lot but that's one hundred pounds cheaper than when it first came out.

Need more memory? Then your only other option is spending an extra £150 and grabbing a £849 256GB iPhone 8 Plus.

If you opt to buy the iPhone 8 Plus upfront without a contract you will save money in the long run, but of course £699 is a lot of money to pay. If you can afford it though it the way to go once you pair it with a cheap SIM only deal.

This is the iPhone you want if you can't quite afford the iPhone X or iPhone XS Max. It's got the larger battery, same powerful innards and strong camera. If you don't mind the poorer screen, it's a good option - and the screen is still a beaut. And we prefer it quite a lot more to the regular iPhone 8.

The best Huawei P10 deals in September 2019

The Huawei P10 was one of the better Android phones that was released in 2017, taking the game to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Here we'll tell you how to get your hands (and wallets) on the very best Huawei P10 deals.

Now succeeded by not only the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, but now also the P30 and P30 Pro, the P10 is an older but now extremely affordable phone. We've put a bunch of the best deals together in one place.

If you use our bespoke comparison chart below, you'll find the very cheapest contracts on the market right now. Some of the deals have lots of data, there are some without an upfront cost and some deals are just plain cheap, so we can get you the best deal on your new phone.

Unless you're after unfeasible amounts of data, you shouldn't have to pay any more than around £25 a month for your new Huawei P10 deal and there are even tariffs coming in under £20pm - that's exceptional value for a phone that, despite its age, is still full of features.

Huawei P10 deals

The P10 may not be a massive upgrade from the Huawei P9, but that didn't stop it from being a serious contender to the best Android phones when it first came out. It may now be a few years old but it will appeal to people who are trying to save a few bucks on their phone contract. The design is still beautiful and considering how much you're paying, this is a pretty powerful piece of kit. And as the Huawei P20 doesn't really kick on too much, the P10 may be a better option if you want to keep things affordable.

The best Carphone Warehouse deals in September 2019

Carphone Warehouse is the UK's biggest phone retailer and a superb place to browse the latest mobile phone deals. Indeed, not only is Carphone the UK's biggest, it's also the largest independent telecoms retailer in Europe. It sells the widest range of handsets in the UK across almost all the main UK networks - Vodafone, EE and O2 as well as its own network, iD.

- Carphone Warehouse's best pay monthly deals

- Carphone Warehouse's best SIM-free phone prices

We'll help you narrow down the retailer's best prices on the market's flagship phones - including the likes of the iPhone XR, Samsung Galaxy S10 and Huawei P30 - using our industry-leading price comparison below.

After our comparison widget, read on to find out the best Carphone Warehouse deals on these and many more handsets. Plus, we'll tell you all you need to know about buying a handset through Carphone Warehouse.

  • Not bothered about buying from Carphone? Then be sure to check out our all-encompassing guide to the best mobile phone deals

The best Carphone Warehouse deals:

Carphone Warehouse pay as you go phones

As you might know, pay as you go (PAYG) deals don't tie you into any kind of contract whatsoever. You simply buy a phone from Carphone Warehouse and then top up your minutes, texts and data when you need it (you'll know when you've run out). You also don't get credit checked, which you do with any type of pay monthly contract. Lots of handsets are available from Carphone on PAYG deals including phones from Samsung, Sony and Motorola. View all the Carphone Warehouse pay as you go deals

Carphone Warehouse upgrades

Carphone Warehouse offers upgrades across the networks it offers on pay monthly and, what's more, you don't need to have bought from the retailer before. You can use Carphone's online upgrade checker to see if you're eligible. Some networks will even let you upgrade early such as O2, which lets you upgrade 30 days before the end of your current deal.

Note that you'll need to enter all your network details into the upgrade checker so Carphone Warehouse can check with your network. So it's best to have your bill to hand.

Text to Switch with Carphone

If you plan on switching mobile phone networks, Carphone Warehouse (like all of other retailers) now operates a text to switch programme. That means that when you buy a new mobile phone contract from Carphone, you can simply text your old network to get your code and switch, making it a far easier process than before.

Will Carphone Warehouse let me keep my number?

In a word, yes. You need to ask your current network for your PAC code (done using the text to switch method mentioned above).

Once you've got the PAC it's valid for 30 days - so don't hang about! if it expires you'll need to get another one.

Next, buy your new phone from Carphone Warehouse and tell them your PAC and your number will be transferred within a few days. If your new phone is on Virgin you'll need to call them directly once your phone is connected.

Trade ins with Carphone Warehouse

We all like a new phone, but if you're just stuffing your old handsets into a drawer then you're missing out, because you can get decent cash for your old handset. Carphone Warehouse offers a decent trade in scheme, with many two year old handsets still worth £200 - worth doing! Carphone will send you a packet to use to send in your handset, too.

Check out how much your handset is worth.

Mobiles.co.uk and e2save

If you've been extensively hunting the web for the best price on your new mobile, you may have come across Mobiles.co.uk and e2save. These two websites are part of the Carphone Warehouse family, but frequently come up with much better prices than Carphone manages itself.

Mobiles.co.uk features brilliant deals on the majority of the current flagship phones and if you enter the code 10OFF at the checkout, you'll save an extra tenner on the upfront price of the handset. e2save usually offers better value on older, budget phones - so if spending a lot on a new phone doesn't hold much appeal, click on the link above to see if they can help you out.

Who is Carphone Warehouse?

Carphone Warehouse is the UK's largest phone retailer that sells the widest range of handsets in the UK across almost all the main UK networks - Vodafone, EE, Virgin and O2 as well as its own network, iD which is fantastic for budget deals and SIM only offerings.

Originally started in a London flat in 1989, Carphone Warehouse grew to have 20 stores by 1994 and floated in 2000. In 2014 it merged with Dixons Retail to form Dixons Carphone, hence why many Currys PC World stores now incorporate Carphone Warehouse concessions. The retail giant owns the iD network. It's a virtual network that uses the Three mobile network.

How to contact Carphone Warehouse

If you need to contact Carphone Warehouse, you can do so via this page depending on what you need to do. If you need buying advice, there's also a large section of frequently asked questions to help you.

What Carphone Warehouse locations are near me?

There are over 2,400 Carphone Warehouse stores across Europe, including 1,100 in the UK. There are also many inside or alongside branches of Currys PC World. Find your local Carphone Warehouse using the Store Locator.
