Getting the right amount of visibility can be key for many workers today, especially if you're managing multiple documents or dashboards.

Whilst not everyone needs a 40-inch 4K monitor for their business like we've covered recently, there's still good value to be had if you want something slightly more compact.

If your office desk is smaller you may instead want to go for a full HD monitor like this Sceptre X325BV from Walmart. At $118 with free delivery to the US, it's only slightly more expensive than full HD screen a quarter of its size - as this is a 31.5-inch LED screen.

Widescreen

You don’t actually need a stand as you will be able to wall mount it thanks to its VESA bracket. It is not particularly thin (who cares at this price) but is surprisingly well kitted in terms of connectivity option. Just keep your expectations in check.

There’s a headphone socket, an audio in, an SPDIF optical connector, a full array of composite/component ports, three HDMI ports with one of them supporting MHL which means that you should be able to plug in compatible smartphones.

It even has a VGA connector, great for legacy systems, and a USB port that provides up to 2.5W. All in all, it makes a great interactive display for shops or a monitor for security systems on a bargain.

If you have room and extra budget, we’d still suggest the Element 40" 4K monitor for just under $160 at Walmart.

The best noise-cancelling headphones can help you slip into audio nirvana in all kinds of situations, whether you're commuting and trying to escape the sound of traffic and sniffling fellow commuters, on a long-haul flight and need to drown out the sound of kids screaming or just want to get away from everything and get comfy with your favorite music at home.

Noise-cancelling headphones are true wonders of the modern era because they can totally tune out any unwanted sounds, while simultaneously making your music sound even better than any old pair of in-ear earbuds (except for the fantastic Sony WF-1000XM3s, of course).

If you're yet to try a pair, we bet you'll be truly blown away by just how well they can cancel out the outside world so you can focus on your favorite music, audiobook, podcast or anything else with zero distractions.

Plus, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday fast approaching, it's a great time to start researching which pair of headphones you're going to buy at a discount during the massive sales event.

How to buy noise-cancelling headphones

So what do you want to look for when looking for a pair of the best noise-cancelling headphones? Look for anything with the words "active noise-cancellation technology" on it.

Active noise cancellation involves some pretty interesting processes to cancel out sound. Along with the padding which passively blocks sound, microphones planted in the ear wells of headphones actively analyze the ambient noise level and reflect sound waves back into your ear that work to zap the outside noise. The goal is to hear nothing but the music, or whatever it is you're listening to.

Active noise cancelling headphones are more effective at what they do, but the downside is that this noise cancellation requires batteries in order to function, which means you'll have to remember to keep them charged.

Now that you know all that, you're ready to choose a set. Let's take a look at the best noise-cancelling headphones around:

What are the best noise-cancelling headphones?

The Sony WH-1000XM3 are the best noise-cancelling headphones in the world two years running. Sure, they might be a small refinement of last year's excellent WH-1000XM2, but subtle tweaks like using USB-C instead of microUSB and adding padding along the bridge help make Sony's award-winning cans even better.

So why does everyone love these Sony headphones so much? Well, it's exceptionally good at cancelling outside noise. Put a pair on while vacuuming and you'll barely hear the motor running.

For music lovers, the Sony WH-1000XM3 features aptX HD and Sony LDAC, two of the best ways to listen to Hi-Res music from your phone without a wire. Finally, all of Sony's flagship headphones offer both Google Assistant and, starting in 2019, Alexa support, making them not only the best noise-cancelling cans on the market but some of the smartest, too.

They don't quite beat the Sony WH-1000XM3s in terms of battery life and price, but the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 are still a brilliant pair of over-ear cans.

Traditionally, noise-canceling headphones have been designed to block out the environmental sounds around you, so that you can hear your music more clearly (or catch some shut-eye on a noisy flight).

This can be really effective if you’re listening to music. If you’re making a phone call however, the person you’re speaking to can still hear everything that’s happening around you, whether you’re standing on a busy street or trying to speak on a rumbling train.

The Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 seek to remedy this, by applying noise-cancelation to phone calls as well as music, which is fantastic feature.

The sound quality is undeniably good, with a vibrant, lively character and well-balanced soundstage.

If you’re trying to decide between buying the Sony WH-1000XM3s and the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, we’d recommend going for the former because of that lower price and better battery life. That being said, you wouldn’t be making a mistake if you opted for the Bose cans instead (and we wouldn’t blame you if you did) – they sound great, look stunning, and the noise-cancelation is out of this world.

The Bose QuietComfort 25 are the best noise-cancelling headphones we've ever used. We say that as a publication who strives for maximum performance per dollar when purchasing headphones. We say that as someone who believes that, in most circumstances, you can find a cheaper product that performs as well, if not better, than a more expensive option if you do some research.

But, in the case of the Bose QuietComfort 25, that's simply not true. They are still the best noise-cancelling headphones on the planet in 2018.

If you want the same level of excellent noise-cancellation as the Bose QC35s but want to save a bit of money, consider opting for the last-generation QC25s. (The biggest sacrifice you'll be making is wireless.)

Nevertheless, the QC25s are a finely-tuned set of headphones that provide over 35 hours of very good noise-cancelling performance with one AAA battery.

Read the full review: Bose QuietComfort 25

Coming in next is the Bose QuietComfort 35 II - a nearly identical product to the already-excellent Bose QuietComfort 35 but updated with Google Assistant. This means you still get the class-leading noise cancellation Bose is known for, good sound quality and incredible comfort, plus a convenient assistant to answer any inquiries you might have while traveling.

Taken as a whole, the Bose QC35 II NC is an excellent headphone for travelers and commuters. Bose has found a good balance of features that will satisfy most mainstream listeners. While we don't love them as much as the better-sounding Sony WH-1000XM2, they're still top of the class for noise cancellation.

With noise-cancelling tech just as effective as that in headphones from rival Bose, and with a more musical sonic ability, the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC are a definite contender for the noise-cancelling crown. More affordable and easy to travel with, these lightweight headphones are a great value all-rounder, whether for flights, commuter trains or busy offices.

Design-wise, the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNCs seem a more slimmed-down, lighter and more focused effort than the bulky and expensive alternatives from Bose and Sony; and crucially, the HD 4.50 BTNCs are just as good with audio, and almost as good on noise-canceling. Whether you're after noise canceling for long-haul ravel, for the commute, or just to stay more productive in a noisy office, the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNCs are worth considering.

The PXC 550's greatest strength is their sound. Other wireless noise-cancelling headphones might offer a better user interface or better noise-cancellation technology, but ultimately none of the above match up to the sound quality of these Sennheisers.

However, that said, there are a couple of irritations that prevent us from being able to fully and unreservedly recommend them, such as unresponsive touch controls. These annoyances aren't quite deal-breakers, but there are definitely other noise-cancelling headphones out there that don't suffer from the same issues.

It's not often you'll find a pair of wired earbuds, let alone a pair of true wireless earbuds on a list of the best noise-cancelling headphones; considering it's still rare to find the technology in earphones at all, the Sony WF-1000XM3s are very impressive indeed, and fully deserve a place in this roundup.

The Sony WF-1000XM3s manage to offer a level of noise-cancellation that's very good for a pair of earbuds – they won't offer the same isolation as a pair of over-ear cans, but if you're after a sleek form factor then the compromise is worth it.

Not only are these hands down the best-looking true wireless headphones out there, but they combine serious noise cancelling tech with fist-pumping musicality. If you don’t want the inconvenience of carrying full-size cans, they’re a persuasive alternative.

If you haven't found something quite to your liking so far, we have one last option for you to look at – the all-new Nura Nuraphone over-ear/in-ear hybrid. Their form factor means you’ve not only got an earbud sitting at the entrance of your ear canal, but also an over-ear cushion sitting over your entire ear. This effectively means you’ve got two physical barriers meaning that the noise from the outside world can’t get to your ears. While more traditional over-ear headphones do a better job offering useful features at a reasonable price, the Nuraphone will appeal to the more experimental audio crowd looking to be on the bleeding-edge of the next big thing.

That is, until now.

A patent filed by Samsung with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) shows a smartphone that looks like a cross between the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy S9 Plus.

On the front there’s a dual-lens camera in a punch-hole, and an otherwise almost all-screen design, much like the S10 Plus. While around the back there’s a dual-lens camera positioned vertically near the center, much like the Galaxy S9 Plus. Though notably unlike that phone there’s no rear fingerprint scanner, suggesting it’s probably built into the screen.

We're also hearing rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S11

But while this phone’s similarity to other Galaxy S models would make it an ideal fit for the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, there’s no guarantee that it is.

For one thing, patents very often don’t become products, so this could be a smartphone design that Samsung never makes. And even if a phone with this design does get made, it might end up being something outside the Galaxy S range.

The design here is also at odds with some of the specs we’ve heard rumored for the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, which include a triple-lens rear camera and a single-lens front-facing one.

With all that in mind we’d take these sketches with a serious side of salt. But hopefully we’ll have a better idea of the Galaxy S10 Lite’s design soon, as it (or the Samsung Galaxy S11 Lite) has been heavily rumored, so we’d expect it to break cover before long.

Speaking to TechRadar Middle East, Fadi Amoudi, chief executive officer at IQrobotics, said that he aims to transform the brick-and-mortar industry into the digital era.

“We want to be a one-stop-shop for all solutions in the Middle East and North Africa region,” he said.

The start-up operates in three verticals - technology (IQtechnolgy), fulfilment (IQfullfilment) and last-mile delivery (IQexpress).

It has opened a 43,000 square feet fulfilment facility at Dubai Investments Park for its fully-automated service for SMEs, especially for e-commerce players, and the next step is to focus on business-to-business.

Amoudi said the business went live 10 months ago and already have six clients for fulfilment centre and robotic facilities.

“We bring all the latest technologies from Quicktron (robotics), Honeywell (software solutions), Damon (warehouse automation), Locked Air (package protection), Cotao (auto slam labelling solutions), Cubilink (dimensioning, weighing and scanning solutions) under one umbrella in the region,” he said.

Moreover, he said that most of these technologies power Alibaba’s business in China.

“We have made the investment and SMEs can use it from day one through pay-as-you-go method,” he said.

Fulfilling logistical challenges

Amoudi choose Dubai due to the strong digital infrastructure facility and the focus by the country to drive digital transformation through innovation and emerging technologies.

As the city is preparing for Expo 2020, he said that the fulfilment facility will meet the logistical challenges faced by SMEs and other enterprises.

The robots used at the fulfilment centre help process 12,000 orders per day.

Even though the e-commerce market in the region is still very much in the nascent stages, the UAE is considered as the most advanced eCommerce market in the Middle East and North Africa region, with a penetration rate of 4.2% while it is 3.8% in Saudi Arabia.

According to a study by Dubai Economy and Visa, the UAE has the most advanced e-commerce market in the region, with e-commerce transactions set to reach over AED 59b this year and to grow 23% per annually through 2022.

Amoudi sees a bright outlook for its fulfilment centre and does not want to rest on its laurels.

The company is planning to spread wings into Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UK, US and China in a phased manner in the next two to three years.

“Our next stop will be in Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Specifically, a tweet has hinted at OnePlus being the next phone manufacturer to enter the wearables space. It comes from a writer for TechPP who used the OnePlus Never Settle motto to hint at the company.

Our collection of the best Wear OS watches

Or maybe just try best smartwatch

Our full OnePlus 7T Pro review

The tweet itself doesn't provide any details of specs or when we'll see it, plus it also refers to the device as a fitness band.

That may mean it isn't a smartwatch after all, but considering the company has been open about its development of a smartwatch in the past - including the photo you see above of the original ideas for the device - we wouldn't be surprised if this was just confused messaging over what type of device is coming.

Even more devices

PhoneArena has claimed there's information that the device may launch alongside the OnePlus 8 - although TechRadar couldn't corroborate this - so it may land in May or later next year, as that's around when we expect to see the OnePlus 8.

If this device does turn out to be a smartwatch, it may be that OnePlus reuses its idea of one with a circular screen as shown in the sketch above. We'll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more.

It marks Xiaomi’s entry into the smartwatch market, a segment that is yet to see great offerings that are affordable.

Android-compatible smartwatches haven’t really taken off ever since Android Wear was announced years ago. It later got a facelift to Wear OS, Samsung moved back to Tizen and upcoming brands tried differentiating on the hardware front, but none really made a mark in the way Apple did with the Apple Watch.

Xiaomi’s approach is a little different, where it is not only creating the hardware platform but also designing a skin over Wear OS. Called MIUI For Watch, it's a very different visual approach. Some 40+ major Chinese apps have been designed specifically for the Mi Watch such as TikTok, Nio, QQ Messenger etc. Xiaomi's XiaoAI assistant is also integrated.

On the hardware front, it follows a design very reminiscent of the Apple Watch with a squircle dial along with a crown and a button on the right side. This is a 1.78-inch AMOLED display with a toughened curved glass on top. There's a mic on both sides, and a loudspeaker on the left. The bottom has the charging pins and the heart rate monitor. The casing is made of an aluminium alloy with a matte finish, and comes with a host of replaceable watch bands.

The Mi Watch is also the first smartwatch to be powered by the Snapdragon Wear 3100 4G chipset. It uses four Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.2GHz. Paired with a 570 mAh battery, Xiaomi says it should last for 36 hours on a single charge. This is probably the biggest battery on any current smartwatch.

As mentioned, the Mi Watch is also 4G capable by making use of an eSIM to continue all telephony functions without needing to be actively connected to your smartphone. Other features such as WiFi, GPS, NFC (for payments in China), Bluetooth and heart rate monitoring are all included. Other fitness-centric features include blood oxygen sensors, sleep tracking, body energy monitoring, etc. and is also safe for swimming.

In true Xiaomi fashion, the Mi Watch is priced very competitively at just CNY 1,299 in China (~Rs 13,000), and will go on sale on November 11.

There's a more premium variant of the smartwatch as well which features a sapphire glass, stainless steel casing and a metal strap. The exclusive edition is priced at CNY 1,999 and will go on sale in December.

The company was the last major operator to offer 5G, switching on its network in parts of five major cities (Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds and London) and Slough. This was accompanied by the launch of unlimited plans.

Meanwhile, the Telefonica-owned operator has consolidated its B2B operations into a single unit, O2 Business, as it seeks to capture more of the market and serve customers with a wider range of services.

O2 switches on 5G

EU could approve Wi-Fi for connected cars

What is 5G? Everything you need to know

O2 results

Revenues increased by 4.1 per cent to £1.6 billion over the past three months, while the number of users on the network, a figure which includes customers of MVNO partners such as Sky Mobile, Tesco Mobile and Giffgaff, rose by 5.6 per cent to 34.1 million. O2 itself now has 26 million customers.

“As the UK’s largest network, we’re proud of our ability to keep attracting and retaining customers, which ensures a healthy business and drives both top and bottom line growth,” said O2 CEO Mark Evans.

“Our Q3 performance continues the strong momentum we saw in the first half of the year, powered by a relentless focus on our customers through award-winning coverage and great offerings such as flexible Custom Plans and limitless data.

“We’re moving at pace with our 5G rollout, already live in six UK cities rising to twenty by the end of the year. 5G offers critical support to the UK’s digital economy, supporting jobs and growth. That’s why we welcome Ofcom’s recent statement updating the rules for the planned auction of more 5G airwaves. This will help operators to deliver greater value and better connectivity to the public.”

O2 will provide 3.4GHz spectrum for a trial of 5G driverless cars in the London starting in the Spring. The capital is viewed as an ideal testbed because of its dense population and complex street layout. Partners in the ‘Smart Mobility Lab’ project include Cisco, DG Cities, TRL and Loughborough University. The first trials will take place in Greenwich and at the Olympic Park in Stratford.

O2 has already provided the spectrum to the Millbrook Proving Ground vehicle testing facility in Bedford, which is currently host to a 5G testbed. Here O2 also provides the connectivity for trials involving connected and autonomous vehicles, while it has also been involved in smart ambulance tests.

“We know that by powering the transport sector we can make a real difference to consumers by reducing traffic congestion, making journeys safer and faster,” added Brendan O’Reilly, O2 CTO.

“We’re excited to be working with the teams at the Smart Mobility Living Lab, who are driving forward our understanding how this next generation technology will fundamentally change the fabric of the cities in which we live and work as well as creating entirely new ways to travel.”

The latest to join the ranks is Tesco Mobile, offering some of the cheapest prices around on top Samsung and Apple handsets.

Two promotions especially stand out from Tesco's early Black Friday phone deals - the iPhone XS Max and Samsung's Galaxy S10. Normally, these are both some of the market's most expensive devices but Tesco Mobile has managed to knock prices way down.

Head to Tesco Mobile to take advantage of these deals

With the iPhone XS Max costing just £41.49 a month/ and the Samsung Galaxy S10 coming in at £29.99/pm, These are some truly cheap deals (for these devices). Obviously, at a price this cheap there is a catch of some sort - your contract will last for 36 months.

But, if you don't mind that additional year on your contract, Tesco can land you a cheap contract on both of the above phones as well as an impressively low monthly price of just £17.49 on the Samsung Galaxy A50.

These Tesco Mobile phone deals in full:

iPhone XS Max | <del>£46.49</del> £41.49 a month | 2GB data | 5000 minutes and texts

Samsung Galaxy S10 | <del>£35.99</del> 29.99 a month | 2GB data | 5000 minutes and texts

Samsung Galaxy A50 | <del>£18.99</del> £17.49 a month | 1GB data | 5000 minutes and texts

How does a 36 month contract work?

Tesco Mobile is often able to offer some of the cheapest mobile phone deals around, but this is mainly due to its 36 month contracts. At its base, this is just exactly what it sounds like - a three year plan.

But, while some might find a 36 month contract to be a bit heavy on commitment, for others it will be perfect. You'll get the same cheap bills for three years and when your contract ends, you can upgrade, go somewhere else for your phone or keep the phone and just pay for your data allowance which only cost you a few quid a month.

The Samsung Galaxy A50s came to India in September with minor upgrades over the A50. The A51 will be yet another incremental update, adding an extra camera to the mix. DroidShout was able to get its hands on more information about the device.

Samsung Galaxy A51 chassis with L-shaped cutout

The biggest change comes with the cameras, as the Samsung Galaxy A51 will sport a quad-camera setup. Chassis images procured by 91Mobiles suggest that the cameras will be placed in an L-shaped formation. The primary camera will be a 48MP sensor, followed by an ultrawide and a telephoto lens. The fourth camera is likely to be a depth sensor.

It will sport a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution with an Infinity-U notch which will house the 32MP selfie camera. Internally, the Samsung Galaxy A51 is said to be powered by the 10nm Exynos 9611 chipset with 4GB of RAM. The battery will be rated at 4,000 mAh.

The leak also mentions that the A51 will run on Samsung’s One UI 2.0 based on Android 10, out-of-the-box. Considering that One UI is yet to be publicly available on even the flagships, this phone must be at least a few months away. The Samsung factory in Noida has apparently also started the manufacturing of the Galaxy A51, and should come to market in early 2020.

Xiaomi is gearing up to introduce its first-ever smartwatch at an event in China alongside the Mi CC9 Pro and Mi TV 5. While speculations are rife about the features of these products, Xiaomi itself has been doing rounds of social media, teasing us folks about the upcoming launches.

Now, for the very first time, we are in the know of a Mi Watch Pro that has quietly stayed under the radar till now. On the microblogging platform Weibo, the Xiaomi Watch Pro was name-dropped by a popular leakster, who since then has removed the said post.

Though, GizChina has a screengrab of the post up with their report which states that the Xiaomi Mi Watch Pro is in development, meaning that it is still time before we see the company make an official announcement of the Pro variant of its smartwatch.

What's interesting about this development is that the report mentions a round dial for the Mi Watch Pro which is a departure from the regular Mi Watch design. The latter is eerily similar to the Apple Watch flush with a crown on the right side.

And while the company is often referred to as the 'Apple of China', it has made some great advancements in the Android smartphone space. Not to mention that it's among the top smartphone manufacturers in India, leading the budget and mid-range segment for a while now.

As for the differences that make it a Pro smartwatch, there are rumors about a bump up in battery capacity, memory, and even a powerful chipset. The leak also mentions that the Mi Watch Pro will be priced at 1299 CNY, which is roughly around $185/ Rs 13,000.

The regular Mi Watch that's going to launch in a couple of hours from now is expected to be priced under $150 (~ Rs 10,000).

According to the teasers released by Xiaomi, the Mi Watch is made out of stainless steel with a crown on the right edge and the display covered in Sapphire Glass. The smartwatch is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 chip with support for e-SIM, NFC, and GPS.

The Mi Watch will run a custom MIUI based on Google Wear OS and will have its app store with a lot of supported apps like maps. We'll know more about the Xiaomi Mi Watch as we near the launch shortly.

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the Galaxy S10 Plus has seen a few price drops at certain places, but we think it's still one of the best phones available on the Australian market right now.

Telstra's latest offer is certainly the best we've seen on this killer handset so far, and thanks to the telco's new contract system, you can sign up to a month-to-month plan and leave any time you want – you'll just have to pay the remaining cost of the handset itself.

While stocks last, Telstra is taking AU$432 off the 512GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, bringing it down to AU$1,488, which is even less than the cost of the 128GB model of the handset (worth AU$1,512).

Now that Telstra has both two- and three-year plan options, this works out to an AU$18 saving when on a 24-month repayment plan, or AU$12 per month when paying it off over 36 months instead.

On top of this, until November 25, you'll get a bonus pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds (valued at AU$249) when you sign up for any Telstra plan with this 512GB Galaxy S10 Plus handset. You'll need to visit the registration page on Samsung's site to redeem your offer for the Galaxy Buds, though.

In a technological advancement normally reserved for science fiction, Microsoft has teamed up with Warner Bros. to successfully store and retrieve an entire copy of the 1976 classic Superman: The Movie on a coaster-sized piece of glass using the Redmond company's Project Silica storage solution.

Demonstrated as a proof of concept, Project Silica uses "ultrafast laser optics and artificial intelligence to store data in quartz glass," as explained at Microsoft's Ignite 2019 keynote.

Best cloud storage 2019 for photos and pictures: free and paid

Best cloud storage management services of 2019

According to the company's Innovation Stories blog, "A laser encodes data in glass by creating layers of three-dimensional nanoscale gratings and deformations at various depths and angles." A 2mm-thick piece of glass is able to hold around 100 layers of these gratings, also known as 'voxels' – the 3D equivalent of pixels.

Polarized light is then passed through the glass, which is decoded and read back using machine learning algorithms.

Super storage

Proving almost as indestructible as Superman himself, Microsoft's hard silica glass survived being boiled, scratched, scoured, demagnetized, microwaved, baked in an oven and more with not a single instance of data loss recorded.

In an effort to safeguard its huge library of historic films (both celluloid and digital), radio shows, TV shows, animated shorts, dailies and more, Warner Bros. approached Microsoft upon learning of its glass-based storage technology.

"For years, they had searched for a storage technology that could last hundreds of years, withstand floods or solar flares and that doesn’t require being kept at a certain temperature or need constant refreshing," said Jennifer Langston of Microsoft.

Preservation

Warner's Brad Collar and Vicky Colf show the difference in size between huge film canisters and Project Silica's glass-based storage.

This is particularly important when it comes to the preservation of digitally-shot movies, which are typically archived by repeatedly copying and moving files across magnetic drives every few years.

Additionally, studios will also back up their movies by creating a third archival copy on analog film which is split into three color components and transferred onto black and white film negatives to avoid color fading – a process that's as expensive as it is convoluted.

“When we shoot something digitally — with zeros and ones representing the pixels on the screen — and print that to an analog medium called film, you destroy the original pixel values. And, sure, it looks pretty good, but it’s not reversible,” said Brad Collar, senior vice president of Warner Bros.

Of course, the Project Silica's glass-based storage is still in the proof of concept phase as of right now, however Microsoft Azure's chief technology officer Mark Russinovich is confident about the technology's future. “I’m not saying all of the questions have been fully answered, but it looks like we’re now in a phase where we’re working on refinement and experimentation, rather asking the question ‘can we do it?’”

Melbourne Cup 2019 live stream: watch the horse racing from anywhere

Attracting runners, trainers, owners and punters from all around the world each year, the Melbourne Cup, is regularly referred to as the race that stops the nation. To reinforce that point, Australia's most famous horse race is a sporting event so big that the entire state of Victoria gets a public holiday!

The great news for racing fans is that all the action will be aired for free in Australia. That means everyone has the chance to watch it anywhere in the world, thanks to the wonder that is a VPN. Read on to find out how to get a Melbourne Cup live stream from anywhere on Earth.

The two-mile race was last year won by Cross Counter, who will be back to defend his title, however a 6.5kg gain in weight means it'll be tough for him to repeat the feat this time out.

Local hopes are resting on the Danny O'Brien trained Vow and Declare, following a strong win at the Tattersalls Cup, along with impressive runs at the Turnball Stakes and the Caulfield Cup earlier in the season.

Also being heavily backed is northern hemisphere 3-year-old Constantinople, following a good run in the recent Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, although his inexperience is likely to count against him here, while the winner of the Caulfield Cup Mer De Glace is being installed by a number of bookies as the outright favourite.

This year the race will be aired live, locally, by Australia's Channel 10 for free. Read on to find out how you can catch all the action no matter where you are in the world – yup, even if you're an Aussie on your hols.

Live coverage will also be on offer from racing.com on free to air TV as well as Foxtel channel 529. Foxtel will also have live coverage on Sky Racing 1 which is channel 526.

Additionally, racing fans can also live stream the race via the Kayo Sports streaming service, which features no lock-in contracts and also includes access to over 50 sports, both live and on demand. Kayo Sports Basic Package costs $25 per month and allows users to stream across two devices simultaneously.

This year, that falls at the end of the month, on November 29, to be precise. While it might be tempting to wait until the big sale comes around, particularly when it comes to investing in something as expensive as a laptop, you don't necessarily need to wait.

Dell Australia always has discounts of some kind on its site, meaning it's often possible to find a bargain on a top-specced laptop from amongst its wide range of Ultrabooks and 2-in-1s.

Some of this week's discounts are particularly noteworthy, particularly because the sale includes an amazing offer on our all-time favourite laptop, the Dell XPS 13.

Compact

Although there have been cheaper PCs in the past but they usually have one massive flaw; they are either second hand machine or they suffer from insufficient memory and onboard capacity (they usually have 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage).

The T4 is the most affordable Windows 10 PC we’ve found to date. It has an old but still capable Intel Atom X5-Z8500 quad-core CPU, 4GB of DDR3L RAM and 64GB of eMMC onboard storage.

It has good connectivity as well with a bevy of ports; you get a Gigabit Ethernet port (a good surprise at this price), 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, a HDMI port, a card reader, three USB ports and a headphone jack.

The device is absolutely tiny, hardly bigger than a couple of stacked CD cases and you even have a bracket to mount it at the back of a monitor or TV.

It is passively cooled which means no annoying fan noise when watching a TV. You won’t be able to upgrade it (say by swapping the SSD) though as everything inside is integrated.

Following the recent release of biometric locking for chats, WhatsApp for iOS is now receiving a new feature that lets users play Netflix trailer videos directly from within the app. The feature makes use of Picture-in-Picture mode that enables users to watch third-party video content straight from the instant messenger.

According to WABetaInfo, the Netflix picture-in-picture mode is only available on the iOS platform at the moment. Still, we expect it to make it Android pretty soon, as with all the previous feature rollouts.

Make sure you have the latest WhatsApp version else check Apple App Store for the same. The picture-in-picture mode for Netflix doesn't work on Android as of writing this post; however, it could be rolled out in the next few weeks.

Share a link from Netflix to WhatsApp, and it will display as a thumbnail with a play button. It means that the instant messenger now supports playing trailers from the steaming service as it does with YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

Do note, however, that Netflix won't start playing a title as picture-in-picture on WhatsApp. This new feature only adds the ability for users to share their favorite titles with their friends and family, and the recipient gets to watch the trailer of the said title in-the-app. They can then go ahead and decide whether they want to watch the title or not based on its trailer.

It's a neat addition to WhatsApp, given its popularity across the globe and only makes sharing and viewing of Netflix trailers quickly. WhatsApp is likely to support more external links. However, the messaging service hasn't revealed a plan for the same yet.
